When I signed up to take the “Art that WOWS” course…

When I signed up to take the “Art that WOWS” course, I wasn’t entirely sure what I was in for. As a watercolor artist and illustrator, painting with acrylics is/was relatively new to me. I have always loved Pop Art, but never thought I’d venture into taking an art course… until Amanda {The Buzzed Artist} offered her course.

Mind you, I have been following Amanda on YouTube for over a year now, and her style of Pop Art {and amazing/fun personality} captured my attention straight away. So when she announced that she was going to be creating and offering an art course for Pop Art – I JUMPED on it.

Over the last six months, I’ve been teaching myself how to draw and paint faces with watercolors, but my noses were always off, my hair didn’t flow, my mouths were always shut, and my faces were always expressionless, but all of that changed with this course.

She walks you through each feature with her ‘Break and Shape’ method; the eyes, the nose, the ears, etc. She teaches proper facial features placement for almost every possible expression, and breaks the entire process down into manageable and easy to follow step-by-step instructions. Practice is key, of course, and just like learning how to do anything new, it takes time and experience, but before you know it – you’ve drawn two eyes, a nose, a mouth, and sooner or later – you create something pretty cool.

After I completed each lesson, I couldn’t wait to start the next one. Amanda is always encouraging and gentle with her suggestions, yet sincere. Not only did I overcome my hesitation about learning how to paint with acrylics, I also overcame my fear of “What if I screw this up?”.

That said, the greatest value that I gained from this course is that I can apply all of these learned skills to more than just one project. My newly acquired skills have been applied to my own style of art, as well as a much bigger Pop Art piece I have planned for the near future. I’m proud of the piece I made, which is now hanging on my studio wall.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to draw a Pop Art face – then this is the course for you. Not only will you learn how to make an entire piece from start to finish, but you’ll walk away with a new life long skill, as well as an accomplished smile on your face. 🙂

{FYI: This is my honest review of Amanda’s “Art That WOW’S” course, and my opinions are my own. I am not being compensated for my review, and aside from being a subscriber to Amanda’s YouTube channel – I don’t know personally know her… but would love to.}

I loved the course!

I loved the course.

Biggest takeaway is having the confidence to plan and draw out my own original art work.
It was all enjoyable and having to wait to the next day to see the next lesson helped me pace myself and not keep on watching more lessons.
Planning out your own art and learning to draw was all new to me and i loved it.
One thing to change would’ve that it would never end….. Lol…
The slides were a bonus as well and a great reference for us to use as we continually practise and improve.

My biggest takeaway was I got back my confidence…

My biggest takeaway was I got back my confidence and believed that I could do this course. I had lost my confidence in my art and doubt that I could do this even though I was really excited to do it.  Amanda was so inspiring and encouraging.  She was always available for help or just that kind word that made you think that you are incredibly talented.
The most enjoyable part of the course for me was drawing the expressions, exploring my new skills, and doing the final piece.  I hesitated on my final piece a few times and re-did it a couple of times too.  Amanda helped me focus on what I needed to do and gave me great advice when I was stuck on my colours.
I wouldn’t change anything.  I loved seeing the progression of everyone skills.  We had people who couldn’t draw to people who could and it was amazing to see everyone work progress into the fantastic final pieces.

Couldn’t have done this without your instruction, Amanda!

Couldn’t have done this without your instruction, Amanda! I feel proud of this piece. why does this have to come to an end?
